Utemeljitelj hrvatske patologije i najpoznatiji hrvatski forenzičar svoga vremena

 
 
U organizaciji Razreda za medicinske znanosti Hrvatske akademije znanosti i umjetnosti, Radne skupine za aritmije i elektrostimulaciju srca Hrvatskog kardiološkog društva te Hrvatskog društva za patologiju i sudsku medicinu, u utorak 8. prosinca u HAZU-u održan je znanstveni skup posvećen istaknutom liječniku Ljudevitu Juraku i njegovoj ulozi u istraživanju bolesti provodnog sustava srca povodom stote godišnjice objavljivanja njegovih prvih znanstvenih članaka. Skup je otvorio predsjednik HAZU-a akademik Zvonko Kusić koji je kazao da je Jurak poznatiji zbog svoje tragične sudbine, kada je u lipnju 1945. osuđen kao neprijatelj naroda i strijeljan zbog svoje uloge u otkrivanju sovjetskih zločina u Vinici u Ukrajini. Zbog toga u drugi plan pada Jurakova veličina kao utemeljitelja hrvatske patologije i najpoznatijeg hrvatskog forenzičara toga doba, o čemu se do 1990. šutjelo pa je ostao nepoznat i njegov doprinos kardiologiji. Jurak je naime u svoja tri članka objavljena 1914. i 1915. prvi u medicinskoj literaturi opisao patološke promjene i kliničke nalaze tzv. Levove bolesti 50 godina prije Mauricea Leva po kojem je bolest dobila ime. Kako je pojasnio predsjednik Hrvatskog kardiološkog društva akademik Davor Miličić, Jurak je u svoje vrijeme bio jedan od najboljih poznavatelja građe i patologije provodnog sustava ljudskog srca. Juraka je nazvao velikanom hrvatske medicine i primjerom medicinske etike. „Liječnici su u stanju žrtvovati i zdravlje i život da bi spasili bolesnika, a Jurakov slučaj je još uzvišeniji od toga. On je bio jedan od stupova hrvatske medicine u vrijeme kad je ona postajala srednjoeuropskom i europskom i kada je bila u stanju 1917. otvoriti vlastiti Medicinski fakultet u Zagrebu“, kazao je akademik Miličić.

Ljudevit Jurak rodio se u selu Zalug pored Huma na Sutli 1881., a studij medicine završio je u Innsbrucku 1910. gdje je radio kao asistent Zavoda za patološku anatomiju. Kad je 1913. u Zagrebu osnovana Prosektura javnih zdravstvenih zavoda Jurak je preuzeo njeno vođenje i na toj je dužnosti ostao do kraja života. Od 1921. bio je profesor opće patologije i patološke anatomije na novoosnovanom Veterinarskom fakultetu u Zagrebu, gdje je bio dekan i prodekan. Od 1922. do 1932. bio je i profesor sudske medicine na Medicinskom fakultetu. Juraj je 1928. obavio obdukciju Stjepana Radića nakon što je umro od posljedica ranjavanja u Narodnoj skupštini u Beogradu.

Dr. Ljudevit Jurak je kao jedan od najvećih onodobnih stručnjaka na području patološke anatomije i sudske medicine poslan u zapadnu Ukrajinu 1943., gdje je od 12. do 15. lipnja istraživao skupne grobnice u Vinici i otkrio da su za ubojstva 2000 ukrajinskih seljaka i radnika katolika krivi Sovjeti. Ubili su ih hitcem u potiljak.
 
O životu i djelu Ljudevita Juraka govorila je prof. dr. sc. Marina Kos koja je pojasnila i okolnosti njegove tragične sudbine. Nakon što su Nijemci u svibnju 1943. na okupiranom području zapadne Ukrajine u Vinici otkrili masovne grobnice, kako bi se napravila njihova nepristrana analiza sastavljeno je međunarodno povjerenstvo od 11 stručnjaka, među kojima je bio i Jurak. Oni su ustanovili da se radi o oko 2000 ubijenih ukrajinskih radnika i seljaka koje je 1938. pogubila sovjetska tajna policija NKVD po Staljinovim nalogu u sklopu etničkog čišćenja Ukrajine. O nalazima tih istraživanja Jurak je obavijestio hrvatsku javnost. Nakon Drugog svjetskog rata po nalogu NKVD-a je uhapšen i optužen da je „svjesno i zlonamjerno vršio propagandu protiv prijateljske Sovjetske Rusije". Juraku je bilo ponuđeno da povuče svoj potpis s izvješća međunarodnog povjerenstva i da kaže da ga je dao pod prisilom, što je on odbio te je osuđen na smrt i strijeljan. Tek 1990. sovjetske vlasti su priznale da je zločine u Vinici počinio NKVD, a iste godine u Zagrebu se započeo održavati Međunarodni simpozij komparativne patologije „Ljudevit Jurak“. Senat Sveučilišta u Zagrebu je 1991. rehabilitirao Ljudevita Juraka i njegovo ime dobio je Zavod za patologiju KBC-a Sestre milosrdnice u Zagrebu te nagrada za komparativnu patologiju.

Herbicid glifozat smatra se vjerojatnom kancerogenom tvari za čovjeka

 
 
„Za Roundup, herbicid kompanije Monsanto upravo je čovjek taj 'korov' kojeg treba uništiti“, napisao je početkom studenoga u svojem tekstu Frederick William Engdahl koji je nedavno boravio u Zagrebu gdje je predstavio svoju najnoviju knjigu „Izgubljeni hegemon“ u kojoj otkriva povijest tajnih veza Washingtona i Islamske države. Kao što je već poznato, Međunarodna agencija za istraživanje karcinoma (IARC) kao autoritativna institucija pri Svjetskoj zdravstvenoj organizaciji (WHO) objavila je u ožujku ove godine značajnu vijest – herbicid glifozat (ili glifosat) smatra se vjerojatnom kancerogenom tvari za čovjeka. Znanstvene studije to su već i ranije potvrdile.

Znanstveno recenzirana studija koja je trajala više od dvije godine jasno dokazuje da konzumiranje i najmanjih količina herbicida „Roundup“ ili bilo kojeg drugog herbicida koji u svojem sastavu ima i glifozat, uzrokuje ozbiljna, teška oštećenja jetre i bubrega, a u određenim slučajevima i preranu smrt. (Napomena: „Roundup“ je najpoznatiji trgovački naziv za herbicid glifozat, a primjenjuje se najviše kod genetski modificiranih usjeva otpornih na glifozat). Međunarodni znanstveni časopis „Environmental Health“ objavio je 25. 8. 2015. znanstveno-recenzirane rezultate dvogodišnjeg istraživanja grupe znanstvenika koju je predvodio dr. Michael N. Antoniou iz 'odsjeka' za medicinsku i molekularnu genetiku (Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics, King's College London). Studija je koncipirana zajedno s uglednim francuskim znanstvenikom - prof. Gilles-Eric Seralini s Instituta za biologiju, Sveučilište Caen, Francuska.
 
Pod točno određenim i strogim uvjetima različite grupe laboratorijskih štakora 'hranjene' su mikro-koncentriranom otopinom glifozata i njegovih adjuvansa koji su prisutni u herbicidu „Roundup“ kompanije Monsanto. Doza otopine glifozata korištene u ovoj studiji bila je upola manja od one koja je zakonom dozvoljena u pitkoj vodi u Europskoj uniji i Australiji te 14.000 puta niža od dozvoljene doze u pitkoj vodi u SAD-u. Štoviše, količina glifozata „Roundup“ koju su životinje konzumirale svakodnevno, bila je nekoliko tisuća puta niža od zakonom dozvoljenih sigurnih granica u svim područjima diljem svijeta. Svakako je potrebno istaknuti da je ovo najopsežnija i vremenski najduža znanstvena studija kada je u pitanju istraživanje toksičnih učinaka glifozata i svih drugih herbicida na bazi glifozata, uključujući i monsantov „Roundup“ koji je otkriven još 1970.
 
Herbicidi na bazi glifozata, uključujući i „Roundup“, jesu glavni herbicidi koji imaju najveću i najrašireniju primjenu u cijelom svijetu, a prema procjenama glifozat se primijenjuje na barem 24 % od sveukupnih svjetskih obradivih površina. Ovi herbicidi ne koriste se samo u poljoprivrednoj proizvodnji, nego imaju i veliku primjenu u urbanom okolišu kao i u vrtovima i okućnicama. Rezidue glifozata „Roundup“ kao i drugih herbicida na bazi glifozata rutinski su otkrivene u sadržaju naše svakodnevne hrane i pitke vode, u kišnim oborinama kao i u podzemnim vodama. Isto tako zabrinjava činjenica da je glifozat otkriven i u zraku kao i u majčinom mlijeku, a o svemu tome već sam pisala na portalu Hrvatskog fokusa. Ukratko, glifozat je ubikvitaran, tj. nalazi se svuda oko nas kao i u našem organizmu. „Ovo novo otkriće znanstvenika zvoni na uzbunu. No, jeste li išta čuli o tome?“, upitao je W. Engdahl. Rezultati najnovije znanstvene studije koju je proveo dr. Michael N. Antoniou sa suradnicima otkrivaju nam zastrašujuću i šokantnu istinu.
 
Naime, studija otkriva da su životinje muškog spola (laboratorijski štakori) bolovale od patološkog oštećenja jetre i bubrega što ima za posljedicu prerano uginuće. Nadalje, otkrivena je signifikantna promjena u shemi funkcije gotovo 4000 gena u jetri i bubrezima kod grupe laboratorijskih štakora koji su dobivali otopinu herbicida „Roundup“ (u odnosu na kontrolnu skupinu). Promjene u funkciji gena slagale / podudarale su se s fibrozom, nekrozom (područja odumrlog tkiva), fosfolipidozom (poremećaj metabolizma masti) i oštećenjem mitohondrija. Što to znači? Ovo je zapravo vrlo ozbiljno otkriće koje zahtijeva promptno djelovanje na mnogim razinama, osobito u području zaštite ljudskog zdravlja ali i života. Jetra je naime, vitalni organ koji život znači: ona je odgovorna za oko 500 različitih funkcija u organizmu, uključujući i detoksikaciju različitih metabolita, zatim za sintezu proteina (bjelančevina), kao i stvaranje biokemijskih tvari neophodnih za probavu. Jetra ima jednu od vodećih uloga u metabolizmu. Ukratko, jetra sudjeluje u funkciji gotovo svakog organa u tijelu te je neophodna za život i opstanak.

Nikako ne smijemo zaboraviti golemu i značajnu ulogu bubrega koji imaju esencijalnu ulogu u uklanjanju štetnih i otpadnih tvari metabolizma. Bubrezi su značajni u funkciji urinarnog / mokraćnog sustava kao i u regulaciji elektrolita, održavanju acido-bazične ravnoteže i regulaciji krvnog tlaka održavanjem ravnoteže soli i vode. Bubrezi su prirodni filter krvi a uklanjaju i otpadne tvari topive u vodi putem mokraćnog mjehura. U slučaju ozbiljnog oštećenja jetre i oba bubrega, naše zdravlje će biti ozbiljno narušeno a ishod može biti i smrtonosan.
 
A za kraj ostaje još jedno značajno otkriće znanstveno-istraživačkog tima koji su zajedno i neovisno vodili dr. Michael N. Antoniou i prof. Gilles-Eric Seralini: „Bila je vidljiva jasna neravnoteža testosterona/estrogena gdje je razina testosterona u serumu bila signifikantno povećana za 97 % u usporedbi s kontrolnom skupinom (štakora), dok su razine estradiola u serumu bile smanjene za 26 %. Ovaj nalaz zajedno s poremećajem funkcije hipofize ukazuje na učinak endokrinog poremećaja.“ Estradiol je steroid a estrogen je spolni hormon, primarni ženski spolni hormon koji je neophodan za razvoj i upravljanje ženskim reproduktivnim tkivom, ali ima jednaku važnost i za druga tkiva kao i za kosti. Estrogeni imaju također određene esencijalne funkcije i kod muškog spola.
 
Prof. Gilles-Eric Seralini proveo je ovo najnovije istraživanje zajedno sa suradnicima kao nastavak senzacionalnog istraživanja provedenog 2012. čiji rezultati su također objavljeni i u javnosti, pa tako i na portalu Hrvatskog fokusa 2013. Ipak, ovo najnovije istraživanje je vrlo specifično jer se odnosi isključivo na sam učinak herbicida glifozata, a istraživanje provedeno 2012. odnosilo se na zdravstvene učinke genetski modificiranog kukuruza otpornog na glifozat. U rujnu 2012. časopis „Food and Chemical Toxicology“ objavio je rezultate prvog istraživanja prof. Seralinija koje je također trajalo dvije godine i u kojem je na zahtjev (!) Monsanta ispitan učinak glifozata „Roundup“ na zdravlje laboratorijskih štakora. Rezultati ove prve dvogodišnje znanstvene studije koju je proveo prof. Seralini sa suradnicima prvi puta je opisala stvarne zdravstvene učinke kod više od 200 štakora koji su hranjeni genetski modificiranim kukuruzom otpornim na glifozat, a cijena studije iznosila je oko 3 milijuna eura. Rezultati ove studije iz 2012. posve jasno su pokazali povezanost razvoja multiplih tumora kod štakora hranjenih s genetski modificiranim kukuruzom otpornim na glifozat.
 
Međutim, nakon više od jedne godine (tj. 2013.) uredništvo časopisa „Food and Chemical Toxicology“ jednostavno je 'povuklo' znanstveni tekst prof. Seralinija. Bio je to posve neetički potez i odluka bez presedana. Kasnije je otkriveno da je netom prije „povlačenja“ znanstvenog članka prof. Seralinija u uredništvo navedenog časopisa bio imenovan Richard Goodman koji je prije toga bio zaposlenik kompanije Monsanto. Gotovo godinu dana kasnije nakon ovog presedana, glavni urednik A.Wallace Hayes i Goodman dobili su otkaz od izdavača časopisa „Food and Chemical Toxicology“ jer se radilo o očitom korumptivnom činu. Ali korupcija nije zaustavljena s pokušajem bojkota rezultata znanstvene studije prof. Seralinija. Naprotiv. Ona je sada još izraženija u Europskoj uniji koja studiju monsantovih anonimnih (!) znanstvenika proglašava tajnom.

Predstavljena knjiga Mirne Šitum Melanom

 
 
U Preporodnoj dvorani Hrvatske akademije znanosti i umjetnosti u petak 4. prosinca javnosti je predstavljena knjiga Melanom, autorice prof. dr. sc. Mirne Šitum, članice suradnice HAZU-a te još 58 suradnika koju su zajednički izdali HAZU i Medicinska naklada. Knjiga se sastoji od 432 stranice s 298 slika, a tekst je podijeljen u 37 poglavlja. U knjizi je citirana sva literatura nastala u Hrvatskoj koja se odnosi na melanom. Predsjednik HAZU akademik Zvonko Kusić u svom je govoru kazao da je melanom jedan od najagresivnijih i najnepredvidljivijih tumora koji se percipira kao smrtonosna i teška bolest, no koji sve do izlaska ove knjige nikad u Hrvatskoj bio multidisciplinarno i interdisciplinarno obrađen. Govoreći o prof. dr. sc. Mirni Šitum koja trenutno obnaša dužnost pročelnice Gradskog ureda za zdravstvo Grada Zagreba, akademik Kusić je istaknuo da je iza nje briljantna karijera znanstvenice, liječnice i nastavnice s međunarodnim ugledom. Posebno je spomenuo činjenicu da je bila i dragovoljac Domovinskog rata.
Glavni tajnik HAZU akademik Pavao Rudan kazao je da Akademija kao suizdavač ove knjige ispunjava svoju osnovnu ulogu – prijenos znanstvenih informacija. Podsjetio je da je HAZU lani objavila više od 180 knjiga i drugih publikacija. Prof. dr. sc. Mirna Šitum kazala je da su u knjigu utkani njen dugogodišnji rad i ljubav prema struci, a knjigu je posvetila svojoj obitelji i domovini. Akademik Ivan Prpić rekao je da  knjiga Melanom obogaćuje hrvatsku medicinsku literaturu i da je namijenjena specijalistima i specijalizantima iz onkologije, ali i liječnicima svih drugih struka, posebno opće i obiteljske medicine
O knjizi su govorili i prof. dr. sc. Ivan Dobrić, rektor Sveučilišta u Splitu prof. dr. sc. Šimun Anđelinović, doc. dr. sc. Hrvoje Šobat te direktorica Medicinske naklade Anđa Raič koja je podsjetila da ove godine ta izdavačka kuća slavi svoju 50. godišnjicu. Na predstavljanju knjige bili su i gradonačelnik Grada Zagreba Milan Bandić, savjetnik predsjednice Republike Andro Krstulović Opara i mnogi drugi liječnici, znanstvenici i stručnjaci.
