Bez vode ostat će 78 milijuna Iranaca

 
 
Visoko rangirani iranski političar Issa Kalantari nedavno je upozorio da zbog grješaka iz prošlosti Iran sada ima tako nedostatnu opskrbu vodom da će oko 70 posto, odnosno 55 milijuna od 78 milijuna Iranaca, biti prisiljeno napustiti svoju domovinu i otići u nepoznato. Mnoge činjenice podupiru Kalantarijevu apokaliptičnu prognozu.

Jezero Urmia
 
Nekad hvaljeno u poeziji, jezero Urmia, najveće jezero na Bliskom istoku, izgubilo je 95 posto vode od 1996. godine, te je spalo s 31 milijardi prostornih metara na 1,5 milijardi. Ono što je Sena za Pariz, to je rijeka Zajanderud  za Isfahan – ali je ona u potpunosti  presušila 2010. Više od dvije trećine iranskih gradova je "na rubu krize zbog vode," što bi moglo dovesti do nestašice vode za piće. Već sada tisuće sela ovise o kamionima-cisternama za opskrbu vodom. Pješčane oluje narušavaju gospodarske aktivnosti i oštećuju zdravlje.
 
Nisu samo Iranci u opasnosti. Mnogi drugi na sušnom Bliskom istoku  također bi mogli biti prisiljeni na neželjeni, bijedni, očajnički egzil. Uz jedinstveni, veličanstveni izuzetak, velikom dijelu Bliskog istoka nestaje vode zbog takvih boljki kao što je rast broja stanovnika, kratkovidnih diktatora, izopačenih gospodarskih poticaja i ratova u kojima je uništavana infrastruktura. Neke specifičnosti:
 
Egipat: Podizanje razine mora prijeti ne samo da će potopiti obalne gradove u zemlji (uključujući Aleksandriju, grad od 4 milijuna stanovnika), nego da će zagaditi vodonosnik delte Nila, jedan od najvećih svjetskih podzemnih rezervoara. Etiopska vlada  konačno se probudila za hidraulični potencijal Plavog Nila, koji izvire u Etiopiji, te gradi ogromne brane koje bi mogle ozbiljno smanjiti protok vode te rijeke koja  dolazi do Egipta (i Sudana).
 
Gaza: Zbog prodora morske vode i ispuštanja kanalizacije  95 posto obalnog vodonosnika neprikladno je za ljudsko konzumiranje, te je „izazvalo noćnu moru“.
 
Jemen: Doznake za naftu omogućuju Jemencima da se više  nego ikada prije upuštaju u žvakanje lista biljke quat, čiji grmovi apsorbiraju puno više vode nego  biljke koje su koristili za prehranu, a koje  su zamijenili. Količina pitke vode je "smanjena na manje od jedne litre po osobi na dan" u mnogim planinskim područjima, piše stručnjak za vodu Gerhard Lichtenthaeler. Specijalist Ilan Wulfsohn piše da bi Sana "mogla postati prvi glavni grad na svijetu koji je ostao bez vode."
 
Sirija: Sirijska vlada protratila je 15 milijardi dolara na propale projekte za navodnjavanja od 1988. do 2000. Između 2002. i 2008. godine, gotovo svih 420.000 ilegalnih bunara je presušilo, ukupni vodni resursi smanjili su se za polovinu, kao i proizvodnja žita, zbog čega je 250.000 poljoprivrednika napustilo svoju zemlju. Do 2009. godine zbog problema s vodom izgubljeno je od 800.000 radnih mjesta. Do 2010. godine u zaleđu grada Raqqa, sada glavnog grada Islamske države, kako izvješćuje New York Times: "Drevni sustavi za navodnjavanje su propali, podzemni izvori vode su presušili, a stotine sela napuštene su nakon što se plodna zemlja pretvorila u pustinju, a stoka uginula. "
 
Irak: Stručnjaci predviđaju da će se količina vode u rijeci Eufrat uskoro prepoloviti. Već 2011., brana u Mosulu, najveća u Iraku,  potpuno je zatvorena zbog nedovoljnog protoka. Morska voda iz Perzijskog zaljeva  je doprla do rijeke Šat al-Arab, a slana voda  uništila je ribarstvo, stoku i usjeve. U sjevernom Iraku nestašice vode su uzrokovale napuštanja sela, od kojih su neka danas zatrpana ispod pijeska, te do smanjenja uzgoja ječma i pšenice za 95 posto. Broj stabala datulja smanjen je s 33.000.000 na 9.000.000. Sadam Husein je isušivao močvare južnog Iraka, te je istodobno uništavana ekosustav biljnog i životinjskog svijeta, što je uništilo živi svijet arapske močvare.

Perzijski zaljev: Ironija je da su veliki radovi na desalinizaciji  povećali  slanost  morske vode u zaljevu, s 32.000 na 47.000 dijelova na milijun, te ugrozili faunu i  život u moru. Susjedni Pakistan mogao bi postati "zemlja koja žeđa za vodom" do 2022.
 
Izrael je jedini izuzetak u ovoj tužnoj regionalnoj priči. On je također, sve do nedavno, do  1990-ih, trpio zbog nestašice vode. No sada, zahvaljujući kombinaciji očuvanja, recikliranja, inovativnim poljoprivrednim tehnikama i desalinizaciji kroz primjenu visoke tehnologije, zemlja je preplavljena  s H2O (Izraelska vodoopskrba je izjavila: "Imamo svu vodu koju trebamo"). Smatram posebno upečatljivim to što Izrael može desalinizirati oko 17 litara vode za jedan američki cent, te da reciklira oko pet puta više vode nego drugorangirana Španjolska.
 
Drugim riječima, pobuna stanovništva izazvana sušom – koja je vjerojatno najgori problem u regiji među mnogim dubokim problemima - može se riješiti razumom i političkom zrelošću. Očajni susjedi  mogli bi početi razmišljati o prekidu tog besmislenog ratovanja sa svjetskom vodnom supersilom, te umjesto da ratuju trebali bi učiti od nje.

Zašto mi moj doktor nije rekao da kemoterapija ubija? – to je prijevod naslova originalnog teksta pod nazivom: „Why Didn't my Doctor Tell Me Chemo Kills?“ poznatog autora, predavača i geostratega Williama Engdahla. Pročitavši tekst Williama Engdahla 4. lipnja odlučila sam isto što i cijenjeni autor – sve ostaviti „po strani“ i javnost obavijestiti o jednom uznemirujućem izvještaju koji se odnosi na kemoterapiju. Naime, autor teksta William Engdahl u svojem svakodnevnom istraživačkom radu naišao je na jedan vrlo zabrinjavajući i uznemirujući izvještaj o učinku jedne od glavnih terapija karcinoma u modernoj medicini – a to je kemoterapija.

Novo istraživanje otkriva da je kemoterapija daleko od korisne učinkovitosti za pacijente oboljele od karcinoma jer ona zapravo „hrani“ karcinom te tako potiče njegov rast i daljnje širenje. „Ponekad se čini kako farmakološka industrija radi prekovremeno samo zato da bi pronašla nove načine kako čovjeku i pacijentu nauditi, onesposobiti ga ili čak ubiti“ napisao je Engdahl. Znanstvenik Peter Nelson iz Centra za istraživanje raka 'Fred Hutchinson' (Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, SAD) objavio je opširnu studiju o razlozima zašto se stanice raka mogu lako ubiti u laboratoriju ali ne i izvan našeg organizma. Nelson je otkrio da zdrave stanice koje su oštećene djelovanjem kemoterapije izlučuju više proteina poznatog kao WNT16B koji potiče stanice raka na preživljavanje. „Povećanje proteina WNT16B bilo je potpuno neočekivano“, izjavio je Nelson za AFP te dodao: „Kada se izlučuje WNT16B tada on djeluje na okolne stanice raka i potiče njihov rast, širenje i ono najvažnije, otpornost na kemoterapiju.“ Ovo otkriće objašnjava zašto u terapiji karcinoma stanice raka u početku pozitivno reagiraju na kemoterapiju, a potom slijedi obnavljanje stanica raka te njihova otpornost na daljnju primjenu kemoterapije. Navedeno istraživanje provela je grupa znanstvenika iz različitih centara za istraživanje raka, sveučilišta kao i Nacionalnih laboratorija 'Lawrence Berkeley' (Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratories). Studija je objavljena „online“ u kolovozu 2012. u časopisu Nature Medicine.
 
Među uznemirujućim zaključcima je i sljedeće: „Ekspresija /lučenje WNT16B u mikrookolini tumora prostate oslabljuje učinke citotoksične kemotrapije 'in vivo', stimulira preživljavanje stanica tumora kao i progresiju tj. daljnje napredovanje i širenje bolesti.“ Iako su rezultati ove studije sami po sebi dovoljno uznemirujući, još više uznemiruje i zabrinjava činjenica potpunog izostanka svakog djelovanja u svrhu ponovnog istraživanja ovog značajnog medicinskog područja – a to je liječenje karcinoma. Naime, kemoterapija izvorno potječe još iz razdoblja Prvog svjetskog rata kada se istraživao učinak kemijskog oružja IPERITA na ljude i njihovo zdravlje. Znanstvenici su tada otkrili da plin iperit snažno djeluje na prekidanje stvaranja krvnih stanica.
 
Za vrijeme Drugog svjetskog rata znanstvenici Medicinske škole Sveučilišta Yale (Yale University School of Medicine) u daljnjem istraživanju dušikovog iperita shvaćaju / uviđaju da tvar koja oštećuje brzorastuće bijele krvne stanice može također imati sličan učinak na karcinom. Pitanje je bilo kako djelovati samo na stanice raka a ne i na zdrave stanice. U prosincu 1942. znanstvenici su odabrali nekoliko pacijenata s uznapredovalim stadijem limfoma (rak limfnog sustava i limfnih čvorova) kojima su intra-venozno aplicirali 'lijek.' Poboljšanje njihovog stanja nazvano je tada 'izvanrednim.' Mediji su tada bili usredotočeni samo na čudesno poboljšanje zdravstvenog stanja oboljelih te su „zaboravili“ izvijestiti da su svi pacijenti ubrzo nakon primjene ove terapije – umrli. Kemoterapija je označila revoluciju u terapiji karcinoma. Pedesetih godina prošlog stoljeća prvi lijek u kemoterapiji koji se koristio komercijalno bio je KLORMETIN, dušični iperit ili skraćeno HN2, što mu je ujedno bio i kodni naziv kao kemijskog oružja. Nuspojave HN2 uključuju: „Hipersenzibilne reakcije, uključujući i anafilaksu, mučnina, povraćanje, smanjenje stvaranja krvnih elemenata u cirkulaciji... žutica, alopecija, vrtoglavica, tinicijus (šum u ušima) te slabljenje sluha.“

Istraživanje i razvoj dušičnog iperita kao moguće tvari u kemoterapiji provodio je Cornelius P. Rhoads (direktor „Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center“) u tajnosti za vrijeme Drugog svjetskog rata a rezultati su objavljeni 1946. Rhoads je došao u „Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center“ iz Rockefellerovog instituta za medicinska istraživanja (Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research). Tijekom 1930-ih obitelj Rockefeller je bila gotovo opsjednuta eugenikom, i tada je Rhoads proveo šest mjeseci u Porto Riku (Puerto Rico) gdje su se često u velikoj tajnosti provodila ispitivanja lijekova na ljudima. Kasnija primjena toksičnih kemoterapija vjerojatno kod milijuna pacijenata oboljelih od karcinoma teško da je bila imalo ohrabrujuća. Objavljeni podatci o nuspojavama današnje primjene kemoterapije, a najveći proizvođač je Roche, zaista su strašni. „Nuspojave uključuju slabljenje imunog sustava, često 'onesposobljavajući' koštanu srž što ima za posljedicu smanjenje broja bijelih krvnih stanica, crvenih krvnih stanica / eritrocita i trombocita. Razvoj anemije i trombocitopenije... sepse, ili pojava lokaliziranih promjena kao što su na primjer herpes simplex, herpes zoster ili druge promjene uzrokovane virusima iz skupine Herpesviridae.“ No, stanje se čak i pogoršava. Zbog negativnog učinka kemoterapije na imuni sustav u cijelosti, pacijenti često obole od tiflitisa odnosno upale slijepog crijeva, što predstavlja po život opasnu gastrointestinalnu komplikaciju kemoterapije. Tiflitis je urgentno stanje, ima vrlo lošu prognozu u ovom slučaju te je često i koban. Nadalje, kemoterapija vrlo negativno utječe na plodnost, uzrokuje gubitak kose, suhu kožu, oštećenje noktiju, suhoću usta, zadržavanje vode u organizmu itd.
 
Australski Centar za istraživanje karcinoma (North Sydney Cancer  Center), Odjel radiološke onkologije, proveo je 2004. dugoročnu studiju o utjecaju kemoterapije na petogodišnje preživljavanje kod 22 najčešćih malignih oboljenja odraslih. Rezultati su bili šokantni: sveukupni „doprinos“ citotoksične kemoterapije na petogodišnje preživljavanje kod odraslih osoba procijenjen je u Australiji na 2,3 % a u SAD-u na 2,1 %. Stoga je studija došla do slijedećeg zaključka: „...Jasno je da citotoksična kemoterapija ima vrlo maleno značenje u preživljavanju oboljelih od karcinoma...“

Kemoterapija je u golemoj mjeri toksična i ubija sve stanice u stadiju dijeljenja, kako tumorske tako i normalne odnosno zdrave. Tri najprodavanija lijeka diljem svijeta u terapiji karcinoma 2013. jesu proizvodi kompanije Roche – Rituxan, Herceptin i Avastin. Ukupna prodaja sva tri lijeka vrijedna je 21 milijardu USD. 'Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center' sada je otkrio da lijekovi korišteni u kemoterapiji djeluju kao – karcinogeni, i to je razlog zašto najveći broj pacijenata umire unutar pet godina od primjene kemoterapije, za koju se pretpostavlja da spašava život. William Engdahl na kraju svojeg teksta savjetuje: „Bio bi dobro kada bi svi liječnici razmislili još jednom o etičkim principima svih liječnika još od vremena Hipokrata – „nil nocere“ – ne šteti. Sada ima prekobrojnih dokaza da kemoterapija samo šteti. Bi li onkolozi promovirali kemoterapiju svojim pacijentima i kada bi uloge bile preokrenute?“ (Izvor: F. U nedjelju 7. lipnja u Zagrebu je u 86. godini života umro akademik Hrvoje Babić, istaknuti hrvatski znanstvenik na području elektronike, redoviti član Hrvatske akademije znanosti i umjetnosti i professor emeritus Sveučilišta u Zagrebu.
Akademik Hrvoje Babić rodio se 17. rujna 1929. u Bugojnu. Osnovnu školu pohađao je u Metkoviću, a gimnaziju u Zagrebu. Diplomirao je 1955. na Tehničkom fakultetu Sveučilišta u Zagrebu a doktorirao 1965. Od 1955. do 1974. bio je zaposlen na Elektroničkom odjelu Instituta Ruđer Bosković gdje je od 1970. bio viši  znanstveni suradnik. Od 1965. do 1967. radio je na Visokoj tehničkoj školi u Stockholmu na mikrovalnim akceleratorima. U više navrata boravio je na Kalifornijskom sveučilistu Los Angeles i Santa Barbara kao istraživač i gost-profesor u području elektroničke obrade signala koja se primjenjuje u instrumentaciji, automatskoj regulaciji i komunikacijama. Na Elektrotehničkom fakultetu Sveučilišta u Zagrebu (danas Fakultet elektronike i računarstva) održavao je predavanja u poslijediplomskoj i dodiplomskoj nastavi od 1964, a na Fakultet je prešao 1974. Za redovnog profesora izabran je 1977.
 
Inicirao je uvođenje smjera industrijske elektronike i radio na unaprjeđenju nastavnih planova i programa. Razvio je znanstvenu i stručnu djelatnost u području analogne i digitalne obrade signala te digitalnih mjernih sustava, vodio je istraživačke projekte i poticao znanstveni i stručni rad mlađih suradnika. Od 1987. u sklopu Fakulteta organizirao je i vodio Laboratorij za sustave i signale koji je postigao zavidan profesionalni ugled i dao značajan doprinos u organizaciji i realizaciji Hrvatske akademske mreže CARNet. Za redovitog člana HAZU, u Razredu za tehničke znanosti, Hrvoje Babić izabran je 1997. Bio je član Akademijinog Znanstvenog vijeća za istraživačku infrastrukturu Hrvatske.
 
Od 1991. do 1994. bio je prorektor Sveučilista u Zagrebu za znanost i predsjednik Odbora za znanost, a titulu professor emeritus dobio je 2000. Bio je i predsjednik Povjerenstva za informatizaciju Sveučilišta. Objavio je 64 znanstvena rada u časopisima i zbornicima svjetskih i domaćih skupova te 48 stručnih i razvojnih radova. Bio je član brojnih ispitnih, znanstvenih i profesionalnih komisija, 1986. dobio je Republičku nagradu "Nikola Tesla" za znanstvenu i razvojnu djelatnost, a 1996. i Nagradu HAZU-a.
