Formaldehid je otrovan, a TTIP opasan

 
 
Genetski modificirana soja u crijevu stvara formaldehid. Da, dobro ste pročitali, ovo nije nikakva zabuna ili pogrješka. Već dugo vrijeme brojni stručnjaci, znanstvenici i liječnici upozoravaju na opasnost genetski modificiranih organizama i genetski modificirane hrane za ljudsko zdravlje ali i za zdravlje životinja. Nitko normalan zaista nikada ne bi svoju obitelj, osobito djecu hranio formaldehidom, i to potpuno svjesno, namjerno i svakodnevno. „Za takvo nešto morali biste zaista biti patološka osoba“ napisao je William Engdahl u svojem nedavno objavljenom tekstu o ovom najnovijem znanstvenom otkriću („A Killer-Diller: GMO Soy makes formaldehyde in our gut“ 27. 7. 2015.). Međutim, upravo to se i događa u stvarnosti jer stotine milijuna OBITELJI diljem svijeta zaista to i rade ali potpuno nesvjesno jer o tome ne znaju ništa.

Naime, sredinom srpnja (2015.) objavljena je znanstvena studija u znanstveno-recenziranom časopisu „Agricultural Sciences“ čiji rezultati nedvojbeno dokazuju da je konzumiranje genetski modificirane soje opasno za zdravlje čovjeka jer GOMILANJEM FORMALDEHIDA uzrokuje kumulativni toksični učinak u organizmu uz istovremeno drastično smanjenje esencijalnog antioksidanta. Konzumiranje genetski modificirane soje i njezinih proizvoda ima isti učinak na zdravlje čovjeka i životinja – to je kao da svakodnevno popijete otrovni koktel.
 
Ovu znanstvenu studiju proveo je dr. V. A. Shiva AYYADURAI, sistemski biolog obrazovan na čuvenom MIT-u, i to korištenjem nove metode sistemske biologije „CytoSolve“ kojom je integrirao 6.497 laboratorijskih eksperimenata 'in vitro' i 'in vivo' u 184 znanstvene institucije iz 23 države svijeta. Provedena studija jasno i nedvojbeno otkriva dramatično gomilanje formaldehida koji je poznat i svrstan u karcinogene tvari, Razred I., uz istovremeno DRASTIČNO SMANJENJE GLUTATIONA, antioksidanta koji je esencijalan i stoga neophodan za staničnu detoksikaciju. Ovaj izvanredan i briljantan nalaz odnosi se na genetski modificiranu soju kao i na sve proizvode od GM soje te proizvode koji u svojem sastavu imaju sastojak od GM soje. Rezultati ove znanstvene studije dovode u pitanje fundamentalne osnove i kontrolne procedure kako u SAD-u tako i u EU-u na temelju kojih državne agencije donose odluke i daju „zeleno svjetlo“ za određene genetski modificirane proizvode jer su oni SIGURNI za zdravlje čovjeka i životinja.
 
Medicinski stručnjaci, liječnici i znanstvenici koji su pažljivo proučili i revidirali znanstvenu studiju dr. V.A.Shiva Ayyaduraia izjavili su: „...Rezultati otkrivaju kako „malena,“ izdvojena / pojedinačna rekombinantna DNK može stvoriti 'veliki' nepredvidljivi sistemski poremećaj u ravnoteži molekularnog sustava. Prema dokazanim promjenama posve je jasno da se nikako ne može reći da su genetski modifcirani organizmi i genetski ne-modificirani (tj. konvencionalni) organizmi JEDNAKI, odnosno „BITNO EKVIVALENTNI.“
 
Sada se ponovno postavlja jedna važno pitanje: kako je američka Uprava za hranu i lijekove (FDA) koja je kao vladina agencija odgovorna za sigurnsot hrane koju konzumiramo, ispitala sigurnost genetski modificiranog sjemena i hrane? Istiniti odgovor glasi: NIKAKO I NIKADA nije ispitana sigurnost GMO-a. Je li to zaista moguće? Odgovor je: „DA, moguće je.“ A evo i zašto. Razlog je izvrsno objasnio i William Engdahl u svojoj izvrsnoj knjizi „SJEME UNIŠTENJA – geopolitika genetski modificirane hrane i globalno carstvo.“

Sada se moramo vratiti u 1992. kada je predsjednik SAD-a George H.W. BUSH „otvorio Pandorinu kutiju GMO-a. Jednom izvršnom uredbom utvrdio je da su genetski modificirani usjevi i hrana „bitno ekvivalentni“ tradicionalno uzgajanim usjevima iste sorte, primjerice kukuruza, soje i riže. Doktrina o „bitnoj ekvivalentnosti“ bila je zaštitna značka ukupne GMO revolucije. Njome se željelo reći da se genetski modificirane usjeve može držati jednakima konvencionalnim usjevima samo zato što se genetski modificirani kukuruz, soja ili riža naoko ni po čemu ne razlikuju od običnoga kukuruza, soje ili riže.“ Ozbiljni i savjesni znanstvenici upozoravali su od samog početka da je koncept o „bitnoj ekvivalentnosti“ sam po sebi pseudoznanost. „On je, kako je istaknuo znanstveni časopis 'Nature' osmišljen u prvome redu da bi bio izlika za nedonošenje zakona koji bi zahtijevao biokemijska i toksikološka ispitivanja.“
 
Dr. Ray SEIDLER, bivši viši znanstvenik američke Agencije za zaštitu okoliša (EPA) komentirao je najnovije rezultate istraživanja dr. Ayyaduraia te istaknuo da ovo otkriće zahtjeva nova istraživanja s ciljem otkrivanja zašto i kako je u genetski modificiranoj soji došlo do promjene u koncentraciji glutationa uz istovremeno stvaranje opasnog karcinogenog formaldehida te posebno dodao: „Formaldehid je poznat kao karcinogena tvar. Njegova prisutnost u genetski modificiranoj soji uzrokovana je genetskim inženjeringom te stoga 'poziva na uzbunu' i zahtijeva trenutnu pažnju i djelovanje od strane FDA i administracije predsjednika Obame.“

U SAD-u se danas pretežito uzgaja genetski modificirana soja koja se svakodnevno konzumira u brojnim prehrambenim proizvodima, a ono što najviše zabrinjava je to što se nalazi i u hrani, tzv. 'formulama' namijenjenim prehrani dojenčadi kao i u brojnim drugim prehrambenim proizvodima namijenjenim bebama i djeci. Ovdje je potrebno svakako naglasiti sljedeće: formaldehid je otrovan, on se koristi i kao dezinficijens u brojnim proizvodima. Također se koristi i u svrhu tzv. biološkog konzerviranja te balzamiranja. Nažalost, često se koristi i u kozmetičkim proizvodima, uključujući i lakove i 'sjajila' za nokte.  U rujnu 2007. Europska unija donijela je zakonsku odredbu kojom se zabranjuje korištenje formaldehida kao biocida i to zbog njegove kancerogenosti (Uredba o biocidnim proizvodima, Direktiva 98/8/EC). No, danas se formaldehid posve legalno koristi u prehrani – on se gotovo svakodnevno konzumira jer se nalazi u brojnim prehrambenim proizvodima koji sadrže genetski modificiranu soju ili potječu od nje, uključujući i proizvode domaćih životinja hranjenih genetski modificiranom sojom (prvenstveno se to odnosi na goveda, svinje i perad).
 
Danas su Sjedinjene Države vodeći svjetski proizvođač i izvoznik genetski modificirane soje, uključujući i sojinog brašna koje se mnogo koristi u mješavinama hrane za prehranu životinja, osobito onih u intenzivnom uzgoju: 94 % soje potječe iz genetski modificiranog uzgoja. Odmah iza SAD-a slijedi ARGENTINA kao drugi najveći svjetski proizvođač GM soje budući je bivši argentinski korumpirani predsjednik Carlos S. MENEM (predsjednik Argentine od 1989.-1999.) još 1990-ih dao MONSANTU ekskluzivno pravo na uzgoj genetski modificirane soje. Današnja proizvodnja soje u Argentini je gotovo 100 % GMO. Treći najveći proizvođač genetski modificirane soje je BRAZIL – čak 85 % proizvodnje soje odnosi se na genetski modificiranu soju. Svatko tko danas živi u Europskoj uniji, SAD-u ili čak Kini, te konzumira sojino mlijeko kao zamjenu za kravlje mlijeko, ili konzumira prehrambene proizvode koji sadrže soju, ljudi koji konzumiraju soju i sojine proizvode kao zamjenu za meso (vegetarijanci i vegani) itd. MORAJU ZNATI DA U PRAVILU SOJA POTJEČE IZ GENETSKI MODIFICIRANOG UZGOJA, stoga je uvijek važno kontrolirati podrijetko soje, sojinih proizvoda i sastojaka.
 
Na kraju ponovimo još jednom: KONZUMIRANJE GENETSKI MODIFICIRANE SOJE U ORGANIZMU DOVODI DO STVARANJA I GOMILANJA TOKSIČNOG I KANCEROGENOG FORMALDEHIDA UZ ISTOVREMENO DRASTIČNO SMANJENJE GLUTATIONA KOJI JE ESENCIJALNI ANTIOKSIDANT I OD VITALNOG JE ZNAČAJA JER IMA ULOGU U DETOKSIKACIJI STANICA. Potrebno je još jednom vrlo dobro promisliti o međunarodnim trgovinskim sporazumima slobodne trgovine i otvorenog tržišta, osobito o TTIP-u budući ipak nije sve onako kako nam govore i kako nas obavještavaju.

Ova strana invazivna biljna vrsta prvo je utvrđena u Međimurju na obali rijeke Mure

 
 
Jeste li ikada čuli za ovu biljku? Mnogima je ova biljka nepoznata, barem pod ovim nazivom, ali im je vjerojatno poznat jedan drugi naziv koji se pojavljuje u napisima – gigantski svinjski korov ili gigantski kravlji peršin, što je izravni prijevod s engleskog jezika. Gigantski svinjski korov je biljka čiji hrvatski naziv je gigantska šapika. Gigantska šapika je vrsta biljke iz roda šapika, lat. Heracleum. Rod šapika samo je jedan od 420 rodova biljaka iz porodice ŠTITARKI, lat. Apiaceae, kojoj pripada oko 2850 vrsta. Rod 'Heracleum' ima oko 70 vrsta, a u Hrvatskoj su zastupljene četiri vrste od kojih je najpoznatija obična ili livadna šapika (lat. Heracleum sphondylium) koja naraste i do 120 cm visine. Obična šapika raste na livadama i na rubovima šuma, uz potoke, rijeke, nasipe itd., a pčelari ju cijene kao medonosnu biljku. No, iskusni vrtlari i poljodjelci znaju da se u porodicu štitarki ubrajaju i neke poznate povrtne kulture: mrkva, peršin, pasternjak (ili pasternak), kopar, komorač, i dr., zatim aromatične i ljekovite biljke kao anđelika, aniš ili anis, korijander, ljupčac i dr., začin kim ili kumin, kao i vrlo otrovna kukuta itd.

Međutim, gigantska šapika ili gigantski svinjski korov, lat. Heracleum mantegazzianum je najnovija biljna vrsta koja je utvrđena u Republici Hrvatskoj te u Bosni i Hercegovini. U Hrvatskoj je prema izvješću Državnog zavoda za zaštitu prirode (DZZP) ova strana invazivna biljna vrsta prvo utvrđena u Međimurju na obali rijeke Mure, a ove godine (srpanj 2015.) otkrivena je i potvrđena njezina prisutnost na području općine Radoboj u Krapinsko-zagorskoj županiji pa je DZZP odmah reagirao i pokrenuo akciju sprječavanja daljnjeg širenja. Naime, Europska i mediteranska organizacija za zaštitu bilja (EPPO) uvrstila je 2012. gigantsku šapiku na obje liste, tj. listu A1 i A2, što znači da ju smatraju potencijalno opasnom invazivnom stranom karantenskom ili udomaćenom biljnom vrstom protiv koje treba propisati mjere protiv unosa i širenja kao i mjere suzbijanja. Štoviše, 'Heracleum mantegazzianum' se nalazi na europskoj listi stotinu najopasnijih i najinvazivnijih stranih vrsta (TOP 100). Potrebno je naglasiti kako rod 'Heracleum' u Europi ima više od 20 vrsta, a skupina poznata pod zajedničkim nazivom 'gigantski svinjski korovi' ima zapravo tri najpoznatije vrste: Heracleum mantegazzianum Samm. et Levier, Heracleum sosnowskii Manden. te Heracleum persicum Desf.
 
Gigantska šapika je vrsta biljke koja potječe iz područja KAVKAZA. Prema nekim podatcima u Europu su je navodno donijela dva brata, botaničari koji su 1892. bili u botaničkoj ekspediciji na području Kavkaza. Oni su navodno donijeli sjeme zajedno s još nekim drugim biljnim vrstama. „Očarani“ botaničari brzo su proširili ovu biljku u europskim botaničkim i drugim privatnim vrtovima. U SAD je navodno donesena početkom 1900-ih i danas se smatra opasnom stranom invazivnom vrstom koja se proširila diljem SAD-a. Međutim, iz dostupnih starih zapisa i drugih izvora podataka navodno nije poznato jesu li botaničari znali za opasnost, budući su ove biljke OTROVNE?

Biljke iz roda Heracleum kod ljudi uzrokuju tzv. FITOFOTODERMATITIS. Naime, koža kontaminirana biljnim sokom i izložena suncu, tj. ultravioletnom zračenju REAGIRA OSIPOM, a unutar 48 sati mogu se stvoriti plikovi na koži. Fototoksična reakcija na koži razvije se 15 minuta nakon kontakta s biljkom, a vrhunac reakcije je 30 minuta do 2 sata nakon kontakta. Otprilike tjedan dana nakon kontakta s biljkom i izraženog fotodermatitisa razvije se hiperpigmentacija kože koja može potrajati mjesecima pa čak i godinama. Isto tako koža može dugo vremensko razdoblje ostati osjetljiva na UV- zračenje, vlagu i znoj te toplinu. Sve biljke iz roda 'Heracleum' sadrže naime u svojim biljnim sokovima tzv. linearne furanokumarine ili furankumarine, a pojedini furanokumarini su svrstani u skupinu karcinogenih i/ili teratogenih tvari.
 
Svaki kontakt s ovim biljnim vrstama, pa tako i gigantskom šapikom treba obavezno izbjegavati, a vrtlari i radnici koji suzbijaju korove na javnim površinama moraju nositi odgovarajuću zaštitnu odjeću, rukavice i naočale, jer furanokumarin može uzrokovati i privremenu ili čak trajnu sljepoću. Biljna vrsta poznata kao Heracleum sosnowskii opisana je 1944. kada je uvezena u Europu kao VRSTA ZA STOČNU HRANU zbog svoje goleme biomase. Biljka je dobila naziv u čast ruskog botaničara imenom Dmitrii Ivanovich Sosnowski, a potječe također s područja Kavkaza. Ova biljna vrsta je 1940-ih unesena u Latviju, Estoniju, Litvu, Bjelorusiju, Ukrajinu, bivšu Njemačku Demokratsku Republiku (Istočna Njemačka) i dr. No, danas je to uobičajeno rašireni korov u državama Baltika, u Ukrajini, Bjelorusiji, Rusiji i Poljskoj gdje se nekada koristila kao silaža za prehranu stoke.
 
Jedna zanimljivost je ta što biljka u svojoj postojbini na Kavkazu naraste 1 do 1,5 m dok u Poljskoj na primjer, naraste 3 do 3,5 m. Ova biljka također sadrži alergen i otrov furanokumarin. Uzgoj ove biljne vrste napušten je u Baltičkim državama iz dva razloga: prvi je snažan miris sličan anisu u mesu i mlijeku životinja hranjenih silažom ove biljke, a drugi je visoki rizik za ljudsko zdravlje kao i zdravlje goveda. Ipak, u pojedinim djelovima sjeverne Rusije još se navodno i danas uzgaja.   
 
'Heracleum mantegazzianum', gigantska šapika ili gigantski svinjski korov potječe s područja zapadnog Kavkaza i u Europi je ova biljka opisana 1895. Međutim, pregledom starih botaničkih zapisa u nekoliko različitih europskih država saznajemo da je ova biljna vrsta unesena u Europu (Velika Britanija, Norveška i Nizozemska) mnogo ranije. Tako prvi botanički zapis o gigantskoj šapiki (H. mantegazzianum) potječe iz 1817. gdje se biljka nalazila na popisu sjemenske liste u Botaničkom vrtu KEW u Londonu (Kew Botanic Gardens). Sjeme ove „dekorativne“ biljke sijalo se u botaničkim vrtovima diljem Velike Britanije, a podatci o uzgoju ove gorostasne „ukrasne“ biljke postoje u 14 europskih država i to mnogo prije 1900-ih.
 
Gigantska šapika ili gigantski svinjski korov naraste 4-5 metra, to je višegodišnja zeljasta biljka. Stabljika je snažna i šuplja, promjera 4-10 cm, rjeđe 15 cm, a listovi su nasuprotni trodjelni, dužine 1 do 1,5 metar pa i više (do 3 m!). Cvjetovi su bijelo-krem boje i brojni, sastavljeni u tzv. štitac promjera 50-80 cm, a jedna biljka može imati i do 80.000 cvjetova. Cvijeta od lipnja do kolovoza, a jedna biljka proizvede između 20.000 do 100.000 sjemenki. Stoga je reproduktivni potencijal ove biljne vrste zaista golem.

'Heracleum persicum' je biljna vrsta čija taksonomija u Europi je još manje jasna od prethodne dvije. Biljka je opisana 1829. i navodno potječe iz Turske, Irana i Iraka. No, sumnja se kako se opis zapravo odnosio na H. mantegazzianum ili H. sosnowskii. Jedina poznata divlja populacija ove biljke u Europi nalazi se na području Skandinavije. No, prvi zapisi o ovoj biljnoj vrsti potječu iz 1819. i to opet iz londonskog Botaničkog vrta 'KEW' (Kew Botanic Gardens). Također se u 19. stoljeću uzgajala kao ukrasna biljka. Na kraju je potrebno naglasiti kako taksonomija gore navedenih gigantskih invazivnih vrsta nije u potpunosti razjašnjena pa su stoga i opisi H. mantegazzianum, H. sosnowskii i H. persicum samo preliminarni.
 
Invazivne strane biljne vrste poput 'gigantskih svinjskih korova' iz roda Heracleum zaista sve više zabrinjavaju, jer ovi korovi imaju ozbiljne i negativne učinke na raznolikost ekosustava. Gigantska šapika ili gigantski svinjski korov kao i druge invazivne vrste iz roda 'Heracleum' uzrokuju smanjenje biljne raznolikosti gdje god se pojave jer počinju rasti ranije od ostalih biljnih vrsta a odlikuju se izrazito brzim rastom – snažni su kompetitori za svijetlo. A posljedica smanjenja biljne raznolikosti je i smanjenje raznolikosti faune. Nadalje, sve invazivne strane vrste, pa tako i gigantska šapika uzrokuje ekonomske štete i gubitke, a u slučaju 'invazivnih gigantskih svinjskih korova' postoji opasnost i za zdravlje ljudi. Stoga je EU još početkom 2002. pokrenula projekt („Giant Alien“, završio 2005.) o integriranom pristupu razvoja održive strategije kontrole invazivnih biljnih vrsta/korova u EU. Kako bi iskorjenjivanje ove strane invazivne biljne vrste bilo što jeftinije i što uspješnije, nacionalni, regionalni i lokalni programi ili točnije strategije moraju imati PROGRAM ŠTO RANIJEG OTKRIVANJA i vrlo brzog djelovanja. Pojedine države su putem medija, javnih glasila, interneta, publikacija, letaka i sl. obavještavale i obavješćuju stanovništvo o svim problemima i opasnostima vezanim uz pojavu gigantskih korova iz roda 'Heracleum' a građani su ujedno i pozvani u uključenje za rano otkrivanje i dojavu eventualnih novih žarišta invazivnih stranih vrsta.

Ključno je da Kina i Indija djeluju na borbi protiv klimatskih promjena

 
 
Kao bivši predsjednik australske vlade, razumijem ponešto o političkim troškovima koje čelnici moraju snositi u nastojanju da pomire dugoročne interese planeta s kratkoročnim nacionalnim interesima. Nakon sudjelovanja na sastanku na vrhu o klimatskim promjenama u Kopenhagenu 2009. godine, kod kuće su me napali i zbog toga što navodno nisam učinio dovoljno i zbog toga što sam učinio previše na postizanju obvezujućeg globalnog dogovora. Kopenhagen je bio zajednički neuspjeh svih sudionika, iako su mnogi od nas uložili mnogo napora. Konferencija Ujedinjenih naroda u Parizu u prosincu sljedeća je prilika da čelnici najvećih gospodarstava na svijetu pokažu pravo vodstvo u usporenoj drami antropogenih klimatskih promjena.

Sjedinjene Države i Kina, najveći onečišćivači na svijetu, počeli su se zajedno boriti protiv klimatskih promjena kada su u studenome prošle godine objavili kako su postigli dogovor o smanjenju emisije ugljika. Sjedinjene Države obećale su da dvostruko brže smanjivati emisije ugljika u nastojanju da do 2025. smanje emisije iz 2005. za 26 do 28 posto, a Kina se obvezala da će vrhunac emisija u toj zemlji doseći vrhunac otprilike 2030. godine. Indija i Kina u međuvremenu početkom ovog mjeseca objavile zajedničku izjavu o klimatskim promjenama koja uključuje obećanje o predaji planova za ciljeve smanjenja emisije ugljika prije konferencije u Parizu.
 
Prije pet godina takve najave Sjedinjenih Država, Kine i Indije smatrale su se nezamislivima. No klimatologija ih danas čini neizbježnima. Matematička je činjenica da će te tri zemlje – Sjedinjene Države, Kina i Indija – zajedno s Europskom unijom uvelike krojiti budućnost planeta. Sjedinjene Države i Europa između 1850. i 2012. proizveli su 45 posto stakleničkih plinova koji se trenutačno nalaze u atmosferi, a Kina i Indija odgovorne su za 18 posto ispuštenih plinova, navodi se u izvješću neprofitne organizacije Climate Analytics. Nastave li trenutačnim tempom, očekuje se da će do 2020. Kina proizvoditi 24 posto svjetskih emisija stakleničkih plinova, Indija će biti odgovorna za 7 posto, Sjedinjene Države za 13 posto, a Europska unija za 8 posto. U ovome trenutku ključno je da Kina i Indija djeluju na borbi protiv klimatskih promjena. Međutim, Kina i Indija boje se da će se radikalnim djelovanjem znatno smanjiti gospodarski rast upravo u vrijeme kada smanjenje siromaštva i dalje slovi kao nacionalni prioritet. Mi na zapadu ne može jednostavno odmahnuti rukom na taj problem kao da nije riječ o nečemu što se tiče i nas.
 
No Indija i Kina suočit će se s još većim problemima ako se emisije ugljika nastave povećavati. Indija će biti jedna od država koje će biti najteže pogođene klimatskim promjenama: doći će do sve većih poplava u priobalju, a himalajski glečeri počet će se topiti. Porast globalnih temperatura učinio bi sigurnost vode još većim problemom u odnosima Indije i Pakistana. William Cline, viši suradnik Instituta Peterson za međunarodnu ekonomiju, procijenio je da bi se skromnim povećanjem prosječnih svjetskih temperatura poljoprivredna proizvodnja u Indiji smanjila za 38 posto.
 
Ulozi su podjednako visoki u Kini. Početkom ove godine nacionalna meteorološka služba u toj zemlji upozorila je da bi klimatske promjene imale „golem učinak” na državu, što između ostalog podrazumijeva smanjenje poljoprivrednih prinosa, ekološku štetu i nestabilne tokove rijeka. U vladinom izvješću iz 2011. predviđa se smanjenje prinosa nasada žitarica od pet do 20 posto zbog klimatskih promjena do 2050. Ne valja zaboraviti da se kinesko vodstvo već suočava s krizom neodrživih razina onečišćenja zraka u velikim gradovima.
 
Ukupne emisije Sjedinjenih Država sada su znatno manje nego kineske, no razina emisija u SAD-u po glavi stanovnika još uvijek je triput veća nego u Kini i 10 puta veća nego u Indiji. Ako Sjedinjene Države žele uvjeriti Kinu i Indiju da prijeđu na razvojni put s niskim udjelom ugljika, mora poduzeti odlučne korake ka smanjenju udjela ugljika u svojem vlastitom gospodarstvu tako što bi postale energetski učinkovitije i tako što bi se usmjerile na izvore energije koje iziskuju nisku razinu emisije ugljika. Jedan je dio te jednadžbe plin iz škriljevca. Za uspjeh u Parizu u prosincu će biti potreban trojak pristup.
 
Kao prvo, Sjedinjene Države i Kina moraju brzo osnažiti suradnju u borbi protiv klimatskih promjena, kako unutar, tako i izvan okvira pariške konferencije. To podrazumijeva zajedničko djelovanje regulatora na polju zaštite okoliša i energetike te djelotvorno oblikovanje cijena za najveće onečišćivače koji kupuju dozvole za ugljik te za potrošače koji plaćaju energiju. Velika ulaganja u obnovljive izvore energije, energiju koja iziskuje manje emisije ugljika, energetsku učinkovitosti i tehnološke inovacije kakva su potrebna moguća su jedino ako postoji prilično visoka i stalna cijena, ako vlada šalje regulatorne signale i ako se na tržištu javljaju inovacije. Kriza onečišćenja zraka u Kini trebala bi biti u samom središtu pozornosti bilateralne politike, regulatornih i tehnoloških napora, i to posebice zbog toga što utječe na sve nas.
 
Kao drugo, djelotvorna trilateralna suradnja između Sjedinjenih Država, Kine i Indije od presudne je važnosti. Iako je u razmjernom pogledu Indija dosad emitirala manje ugljika, njezino će stanovništvo u sljedećem desetljeću nadmašiti kinesko, a industrijska revolucija u toj zemlji tek je počela. Razina onečišćenja zraka u Delhiju već je usporediva s Pekingom. U tom je trokutnom odnosu potrebna ista vrsta suradnje na borbi protiv klimatskih promjena koja bi uključivala regulaciju, oblikovanje cijena, tehnologiju i ulaganja. U tom kontekstu ne možemo ignorirati činjenicu  da će ugljen u nedostatku kvantnog skoka tehnologije vjerojatno i dalje biti velik izvor goriva za proizvodnju energije u Kini i Indiji do sredine stoljeća. Ulaganja se moraju nastaviti usmjeravati na tehnologije u kojima se ne koristi ugljen i na prijelaz na plin iz škriljevca.
 
Kao treće, suglasjem o borbi protiv klimatskih promjena u Parizu mora se osigurati da zemlje zaista provedu smanjenja emisija na koja se obvežu. Konačni dogovor mora biti podložan mehanizmu redovita pregleda, potpunoj transparentnosti podataka i mogućnosti da se odredbe iz Pariza po potrebi dopune daljnjim mjerama za borbu protiv klimatskih promjena. Čini se da velik dio svijeta ignorira pravo međunarodnih ugovora, no reagira na konkretne mjere zaštite okoliša koje se temelje na tom pravu. Za postizanje dogovora u Parizu bit će potrebno hrabro vodstvo. Ljudi diljem svijeta, osobito mladi, sada od čelnika naših velikih sila sve više očekuju da zaštite naš planet prije nego bude prekasno za nas sve.
